Putting together the right team is key to having a successful website. I’ve learned through designing and running By Candlelight Media, that finding the right people for the team and ensuring that those people have similar goals in mind and the dedication to their work, as well as yours, is a lot harder than it sounds.
From the beginning, I knew I needed to find like-minded individuals who had the same goals for the website as I did. They needed to have a desire to share creepy content and a wish to provide eerie entertainment in more than one medium.
I’m sure I sound like one of those health nuts who are obsessed with telling everyone they meet about their CrossFit experiences because I’m constantly telling people about By Candlelight Media. But the truth of the matter is, I have a purpose for doing so. I learned fairly quickly, people don’t normally talk about their desire to share content. For good reason too. In this day and age sharing your art, your stories, your original content online, opens you up to a lot of ridicule from trolls and overly critical people. It takes a lot of guts to put yourself on the internet. I know this from personal experience. However, I also know that when talking to creative people about a safe place where you can share your creations and be encouraged to do it, an artist or writer is more likely to open up.
That’s what I wanted, and it’s why I talk about the website to just about everyone I meet. I enjoy seeing people open up and share with me the story they’ve been working on, or the comic they illustrate, or their idea for a podcast. When I see how excited they are, it gets me excited. And if these people are half as passionate about these things as I am, I know they’d make a great addition to the By Candlelight Media Network.
But even with that in mind, I can sometimes find it difficult to get people who are as serious as I am about actually following through with their ideas. I know just how much time and dedication it takes to put out new content regularly, and I understand that sometimes that dedication and effort is better spent elsewhere when you have more important responsibilities to take care of.
I have found, however, and continue to search for people who, like myself want to see their creativity and in turn, this website, succeed. These are the people I have added to the By Candlelight Network. People like Ratboy, Sick Nurse, and A.J. Wraithwright. People who have amazing imaginations and a powerful desire to create content that’s both scary and exciting.
My goal and hope for By Candlelight Media is that the network continues to grow and expand. I would love to see it someday as a large multimedia network complete with animators, podcasters, film-makers, artists, and writers who are constantly putting out new content for you, the audience to enjoy.
I hope that any of you reading this, who are in anyway creative and who have a desire to make something spooky, who share the same vision of building By Candlelight Media into something great, reach out to me. Email or DM me on Twitter and tell me about your idea. Tell me how I can help you make something amazing, and together, let’s produce it.
I am actively working on producing the best content I can with the resources available to me. I am working hard to schedule everything so that it releases on time, and in the best way possible. I am above all, working my finger to the proverbial bone searching and including people who share my vision of By Candlelight Media. I hope that someday all this effort pays off. I’m happy to continue this work alone, but I think it would be even better with more people a part of the By Candlelight Media Network.
I know this is a short entry, I have a lot to get to today, and I just had this thought to share with you. I hope you enjoy everything that’s coming out this week and the rest of the month. There is a lot of cool stuff coming your way. For a complete look at this month and last month’s releases, make sure to check out our online magazine, The Chandler.
Thanks for all your support, I truly appreciate it. If you aren’t the kind of person who wants to contribute to the content we create by making your own content, but you want to help us produce the stories and shows here on the site, you can join our network by becoming a patron at Patreon.
Thanks again, and I hope you all have a great week.
